PROJECT BRIEF:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

RELAYING SURFACE FOR COMMERCIAL YARD

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The existing surface of the yard was heavily waterlogged and extremely muddy for the majority of the year due to a higher water table – rendering the area unfit and out of bounds for the forklift and almost impossible site access for vehicles such as vans or cars. Our brief was to identify and find a solution to create a free draining surface that was capable of withstanding constant forklift use with the occasional HGV access.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774350644{margin-top: -20px !important;margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774485502{margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1454775624078{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

PRACTICAL SOLUTION:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

CREATE A FREE DRAINING SUBBASE ABOVE THE WATER TABLE, SUPPORT THE FILL MATERIAL TO HANDLE DAILY FORKLIFT USE

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

We used CORE LP’s 150mm TRP Geocell panels, filling them with CORE Subflow20, a 4 to 20mm mix of clean cohesive stone capable of binding sufficiently to create a free draining subbase above the water table. By using a CORE TRP10 separation membrane and CORE Bi-axial geonet below the geocell panels, we were able to support the fill material – enabling it to support a 50ton load. To handle the daily use of forklifts, CORE Commercial gravel stabiliser was filled with a 2 to 6mm grit, allowing us to create a high load bearing platform that was a completely porous surface.

ADVANTAGES:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

QUICK INSTALLATION RELIEVED THE ISSUE OF THE WATERLOGGED YARD, WITH THE USE OF CORE GEOCELL PANELS REDUCING COSTS

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Using the CORE Geocell panels to create an above the ground subbase enabled us to dramatically reduce the costs and carbon footprint of this project as the only excavation was at the entrance to the yard, to allow the new surface to finish flush with the existing surface outside the yard. This resulted in almost no muck away and raised the surface above the water table, shifting it from the source of the problem. The surface is now flat and firm enough for constant forklift use and heavy vehicles to use the space also.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ult_buttons btn_title=”BACK TO CASE STUDIES” btn_link=”url:%2Fcase-study%2F||” btn_title_color=”#ffffff” btn_bg_color=”#000000″ btn_bg_color_hover=”#f08021″ btn_title_color_hover=”#ffffff” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
