LIGHTPRO 12V GARDEN LIGHTING (PRO LIGHT)

These terms apply to Lightpro garden lighting sold under our Pro Light range, in addition to the rest of these Conditions. If you are buying as a consumer, nothing in this section affects your statutory rights.

1. A 12-volt system

Lightpro is a 12-volt low-voltage lighting system. Lightpro lights must be powered by a Lightpro transformer through Lightpro 12V cable and connectors, and must not be connected directly to mains (230 V) power. The only exception is the Lightpro Ixion Small, which is a 230 V mains light. It must be installed by a qualified electrician in line with the current wiring regulations.

2. Installation documentation

You must install, use and maintain Lightpro products in line with the manufacturer’s documentation for each product (together, the “Installation Documentation”):

  • the Lightpro General Installation Manual ;
  • the product’s instruction manual and product information sheet, linked under Downloads & documents on each product page;
  • the safety and installation instructions supplied in the box.

If anything in the Installation Documentation is unclear, please contact us before installing.

3. System limits

To work correctly, and for the manufacturer’s warranty to apply, a Lightpro installation must stay within these limits:

  • Lightpro parts only: do not connect Lightpro products to another brand’s transformer, cable, connectors, dimmers or control systems.
  • Cable run: no more than 80 metres of cable from the transformer to the end of any one run.
  • Transformer load: the total wattage of connected lights and accessories must not exceed the transformer’s rating (100 W or 150 W).
  • Operating temperature: −20 °C to +50 °C.

4. Power Pack and system guidance

Where we show how many of a light each Lightpro Power Pack will run, or recommend a Power Pack for a quantity of lights, this is guidance based on that light’s typical spacing, a lead of about 5 metres from the power socket to the first light, and the system limits above. Longer cable runs, wider spacing or mixing different lights may need a larger Power Pack, more cable or splitting the lights into more runs. If your layout differs from the typical one, please contact us before ordering and we will help you choose.

5. Faults caused by installation or use

We are not responsible for loss, damage or faults caused by:

  • installation, use or maintenance that does not follow the Installation Documentation;
  • exceeding the system limits in section 3;
  • connecting Lightpro products to non-Lightpro products or to mains power (other than the Ixion Small, installed as above);
  • accidents, misuse, lightning, power surges or faults in the mains supply;
  • products that have been opened, modified or repaired by anyone not authorised by the manufacturer.

This does not affect our responsibility for Goods that were faulty or not as described when delivered.

6. Reporting a fault

To help us and the manufacturer assess a fault quickly, please contact us as soon as you notice it, and in any case within 30 days, with:

  • your order number;
  • the product affected;
  • a description of the fault;
  • photos of the product and the installation;
  • the transformer used, the number of lights and the approximate cable length.

We may ask you to return the product so it can be tested. Where testing shows the fault was caused by any of the matters in section 5, reasonable testing and carriage costs may be charged, and we will tell you before any charge is made.

7. Manufacturer’s warranty

Lightpro products carry the manufacturer’s 6-year warranty when installed as a complete Lightpro system (Lightpro lights, transformer, cable and connectors) in line with these terms and the Installation Documentation. Full details, including what is covered and how to claim, are at theidealgarden.com/lightpro-warranty. The warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights.

Lightpro 6-Year Warranty

Every Lightpro 12V garden lighting product we sell comes with Lightpro’s 6-year manufacturer’s warranty when it is installed as a complete Lightpro system. This page explains what’s covered, what you need to do to keep the warranty, and how to make a claim.

This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your legal rights as a consumer. See Your legal rights below.

Who gives the warranty

  • Guarantor: Techmar B.V., the manufacturer of Lightpro, Chopinstraat 10-11, 7557 EH Hengelo, The Netherlands.
  • UK distributor: Contact 19 Ltd, Unit 10 Camberley Business Centre, Bracebridge, Camberley, Surrey GU15 3DP.
  • Sold by: theidealgarden.com Ltd, Unit 14 Calves Lane Farm, Bellswood Lane, Iver, Bucks SL0 0LU. We handle your claim for you, so contact us first.

What’s covered

  • How long: 6 years from the date you bought the product (the date on your order).
  • What: Lightpro lights, transformers, switches, connectors and cable. That includes our Lightpro Power Packs and complete systems.
  • Against: faults in materials or manufacture that stop the product working as described in its specification.
  • Where: products delivered to and installed in the UK.

How to keep your warranty

The warranty only applies to a complete Lightpro system, so Lightpro can be sure how it was wired and powered:

  1. Use only Lightpro parts: Lightpro lights, a Lightpro transformer, Lightpro 12V cable and Lightpro connectors. Connecting Lightpro products to another brand’s transformer, cable, connectors or controls voids the warranty. The easiest way is to add a Lightpro Power Pack to your lights, or buy a complete system.
  2. Follow the two golden rules:
    • no more than 80 metres of cable from the transformer to the end of any one run;
    • never connect more watts of lights than the transformer’s rating: 100 W or 150 W.
  3. Install and use it as the manual describes: the Lightpro General Installation Manual and each product’s instruction manual (under Downloads & documents on its product page), within an outdoor temperature range of −20 °C to +50 °C. Our Terms & Conditions set out the installation terms in full. Lightpro is a 12V low-voltage system and must not be wired to mains power. The only exception is the Ixion Small, which is a 230 V mains light.
  4. Keep your proof of purchase. Your order confirmation or invoice from us is your proof. If you add more lights later, keep the earlier order too, as it shows your Lightpro transformer and cable.

What isn’t covered

  • Replaceable light sources (bulbs/lamps such as MR16 lamps), which are excluded by the manufacturer.
  • Lightpro products used with another brand’s transformer, cable, connectors, dimmers or control systems.
  • Faults caused by incorrect wiring or installation, cable runs over 80 m, or overloading the transformer.
  • Damage from accidents, misuse, neglect, lightning, power surges or faults in the mains supply.
  • Products that have been opened, modified or repaired by anyone not authorised by Lightpro.
  • Normal wear and tear, and cosmetic changes from weathering that don’t affect how the product works.

How to make a warranty claim

  1. Contact us within 30 days of noticing the fault at info@theidealgarden.com or on 0800 44 88 123.
  2. Tell us:
    • your order number;
    • the product and how many are affected;
    • what’s wrong, with photos or a short video;
    • when you installed it;
    • how it’s set up: the transformer, the total number of lights and the approximate cable length.
  3. We pass your claim to Lightpro’s UK distributor and keep you updated. You may be asked to send the product back for testing; we’ll tell you how.
  4. If the fault is covered, Lightpro will repair or replace the product, or refund what you paid for it. If the product is no longer made, it may be replaced with a similar model. A repair or replacement doesn’t restart the 6-year period.
  5. If no fault is found, or the problem isn’t covered, reasonable testing and carriage costs may be charged. We’ll always tell you before any charge applies.

Your legal rights

The Lightpro warranty is extra to your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which apply to everything you buy from us whether or not you have a complete Lightpro system:

  • Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
  • If something is faulty, you can ask for a refund within 30 days of delivery.
  • After that, you can ask for a repair or replacement. If that doesn’t fix it, you can ask for a refund or a price reduction.
  • Buying online, you can also cancel within 14 days of delivery for any reason. See our returns and refunds page.
