PROJECT BRIEF:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO A STEEP 1 IN 5 DRIVEWAY.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mr & Mrs Vaughan approached us at Core Landscape Products with concerns about their driveway at the family home in Stockenchurch, Buckinghamshire. They had a steep 1 in 5 slope that was difficult and dangerous to drive on during the winter conditions. The driveway sloped away from the property and swept around towards a newly constructed garage at the bottom of the slope. Mrs & Mrs Vaughan had two vehicles, a 4 x 4 and a sports car. They wanted a surface that would provide safe access for both pedestrians and vehicle’s approaching the driveway whilst keeping with the rural nature of the property.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774350644{margin-top: -20px !important;margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774485502{margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1454775624078{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

PRACTICAL SOLUTION:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

INSTALL GRAVEL STABILIZER 60-40 HDR

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]To resolve the problem, we recommended our gravel stabilizer Coredrive 60-40 HDR to ensure that the gravel would not slope down the driveway whilst maintaining a rural look. To install this, the existing macadam surface was removed and a new granite sett edge was installed. The existing sub base was topped up with additional type 1 sub base, graded shaped and re compacted. We then implemented our Coredrive 60-40HDR gravel stabiliser, laying it over a sharp sand blinding whilst using galvanised steel fixing pins to provide additional stability to the entire surface. It was then filled with locally sourced 10/12mm angular gravel.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774350644{margin-top: -20px !important;margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column css=”.vc_custom_1454774485502{margin-bottom: -20px !important;}”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1454775798141{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

ADVANTAGES:

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

“WE LOVED THE IDEA OF GRAVEL BUT OUR DRIVE IS QUITE STEEP WE DIDNT THINK IT WOULD BE A VIABLE OPTION” (MRS VAUGHAN)

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Using a gravel stabilisation grid meant the existing sub base could be utilized as part of the new sub base producing a significant cost saving and improving the environmental impact of the works. The porous surface allows water to flow through avoiding surface water build up and therefore eliminating the risk of slipping in wet conditions. This also eliminates the risk of ice forming from standing water in sub-zero temperatures. All in all the gravel finish provides ideal surface traction for vehicles whilst maintaining a clean surface for pedestrians. Perfectly suitable for access by prams, pushchairs and DDA compliant if disabled access were required.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][ult_buttons btn_title=”BACK TO CASE STUDIES” btn_link=”url:%2Fcase-study%2F||” btn_title_color=”#ffffff” btn_bg_color=”#000000″ btn_bg_color_hover=”#f08021″ btn_title_color_hover=”#ffffff” icon_size=”32″ btn_icon_pos=”ubtn-sep-icon-at-left”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][/vc_column][/vc_row]
