A Gravel Driveway is one of the most attractive, economical and versatile surfaces on earth. But without help, it’s inclined to move around, creating ridges and ending up where it shouldn’t. We have found the perfect solution. These stabilising cellular grids create a naturally porous base into which gravel sits – and stays! There easy to lay, inexpensive and very, very effective.
It is a common misconception that only thicker, heavier and uglier grids can withstand consistent vehicular traffic and last. This is not the case! Some of these grids are so lightweight there practically invisible, yet super strong, I’m guessing most of the strength required lies in the aggregate infill.
Core Landscape Products have specifically designed and manufactured a range of gravel stabilisation grids each intended for a specific traffic load and site condition. Whether your project is a sloping domestic drive or a heavily trafficked commercial parking area… they appear to have a grid for almost every option!
What didn’t immediately hit me was just how much money could be saved by using the correct depth and size of grid for each particular traffic scenario.
If your area is a domestic parking lot, with the possibility of an occasional heavy vehicle you only need a domestic grid, you could use a 25mm deep grid which only requires one ton of gravel to cover 23m2, that’s a really cost effective option for any surface!
When used with a 6 – 10mm aggregate infill these grids create a wheelchair friendly DDA compliant surface that is perfectly accessible for wheelchair, stick users and walking frames, which is all that the Governments (Part M: Access to and use of buildings) approved document requires.
To top it all this product is the perfect retrofit, yes you can lay this over your existing surface with minimal preparation, with just a little surface adjustment at the junctions with adjoining surfaces you can utilise your existing surface as a new sub base for the gravel stabiliser, so all in all the cost savings compared to other surfacing options are incredible.
